BMW GINA
German giants BMW have lifted the lid on its top secret concept car. Here are the first images of the innovative new sportscar currently referred to as the GINA Light Visionary Model Concept.
At first glance it may look like any other car but covering the shell is a highly durable, expansion-resistant fabric stretched across the frame. The fabric is secured on a mesh of metal wires that can move, controlled by electro-hydraulics. This can be seen in greater detail in the BMW premiere video.
The concept aims to bring the gap between car and driver much closer together with its ability to take on a number of different shapes and designs from the touch of a button. One example of this is a sensor that can lift the waistline resulting in a more aggressive stance.
Based on the a rear wheel drive chassis, the car offers a first look at what the eagerly anticipated replacement for the new Z4 will look like when it goes on sale in 2010. However, despite the fancy body morphing technology, BMW says it is doubtful that the system will make it to the production line anytime soon. Even so, the firm admits the arrangement will serve as a useful development tool for the German manufacturer as its ability to modify its appearance will be a useful indicator for similar styled cars.

Given unprecedented access to the final stages of the making and release of the group's new album, photographer Eva Vermandel and film-maker Nicholas Abrahams create an intimate and revealing portrait of the Icelandic quartet at work on their most immediate record to date.
Housed in a large-format, fine weave cloth-bound hardback book, the deluxe edition comprises nearly 200 pages of fine art photographic images, as well as an impressionistic film portrait of Sigur Rós, as they record, mix and master "Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust". Locations include New York, London, Mexico, Reykjavik and beyond, and take in the filming of the 'Gobbledigook' video, tour rehearsals, the early shows on the tour, as well as exclusive band interviews relating to the record.
Each edition is individually numbered and includes a unique strip of 16mm film taken from the video Gobbledigook as well as the DVD and album.
